Where does The Triquetra Foundation get its name and what does the term mean?
Our NAME is our LOGO...
The term Triquetra is simply the name of a shape that very neatly symbolises the diagnostic style of our approach to healthcare.
Triquetra (try-kwet-ra) is just like the word square or triangle, it is a term that describes a specific geometrical shape.
Whereas a triangle is known for having three straight sides and a square known for having four, the triquetra has three circular arcs of equal radius.
This shape is the ideal symbol to represent who we are as it is, in reality, a diagram which illustrates the concepts that sit at the heart of our health model, a model that defines our interpretation of health and dis-ease and guides our approach to treatment.
...and our LOGO is our NAME
As a model it works in the same way that a Venn diagram portrays the relationships between data.
We start by considering the body to be a unit, an indivisible whole and then we concider this unity from different angles. The three circles do not represent the component parts of this whole, but rather represent the perspectives from which we can regard the unity.
The three circles represents these perspectives and their linked nature. The three circles could be thought of as lens filters through which the state-of-health can be gauged. Each one presents the current health capacity from a different standpoint.
The three circles represent; Structure or anatomy, Function or physiology, The Mind or psychology. The space outside of all three circles represents those things that which are conventionally considered to be outside the body, the stimulus of the environment which we term Fuel.
As a philosophical approach it enables us to recognise how somebody’s state-of-health is a reflection of their body's organisation and adaptive capacity and how these dictate the intensity of the immediate challenges through predisposition.
This diagnostic concept thus informs and guides treatment towards supporting the mechanisms of health through the facilitation of integration and the principle of adjustment.
SIGNIFICANCE OF A SYMBOL
The Triquetra was used extensively in heraldry - most noticeably in the guise of Borromean rings – forming part of the emblem that would represent one’s duties and responsibilities.
The Triquetra was chosen to represent our approach and, as apposed to a generic badge, stands as our coat of arms, our crest, symbolic of the approach, intent and principles that form the fundamental core of our methodology.
The Triquetra foundation is a foundation of principle, ideology, and creed committed to providing, whenever possible, the environment, treatments and resources that create positive and lasting changes to health.
